Firearm Transfers
We will receive shipped non-NFA firearms from other FFLs or Non-Licensees (individuals) and complete transfers for $20.00, CASH ONLY.
We will receive shipped NFA firearms from other FFLs and complete the required ATF paperwork for $100.00, CASH ONLY.
Machine Guns will carry a $200.00 transfer fee. CASH ONLY.
We will facilitate non-NFA firearm transfers to NC ACTIVE SWORN LAW ENFORCMENT for FREE. This includes shipped firearms received from FFLs or Non-Licensees (individuals) and between Non-Licensees (individuals). Departmental ID required. We will also perform this for free to any Qualified Retired/Separated Officers which are Certified by the NC DOJ under the provisions of LEOSA.
Delays, Denials, Missed Appointments, Returned Firearms
If you have a firearm shipped to CPS for transfer and you are unable to pick it up within a reasonable amount of time, CPS will charge an additional $20.00 per 30 days. This does apply to delays in your background check received by NICS. Some instances the fee would be charged are: you need to update your ID, or you will be traveling out of town for extended periods of time. CPS reserves the right to return items to the vendor for extended delays.
If you have a firearm shipped to CPS for transfer and you are denied during your background, you will still be charged the transfer fee of $20.00. CPS will arrange the return of the firearm to the vendor you purchased from once the $20.00 fee is paid.
CPS is a home-based FFL committing time to facilitate transfers to the public. Both the customer’s and CPS’s time is valuable. If you make an appointment to pick up a firearm from CPS, and you miss the appointment, a fee of $5.00 will be added to the transfer cost. If you are going to be more than 15 mins late you must contact CPS, and we may still allow you to come at our discretion.
If the firearm must be returned to the vendor for any reason, including denial of transfer, the $20.00 fee will still apply.
Secure Storage
CPS will provide secure storage of firearms for customers. This involves CPS taking the firearm into CPS’s inventory and logging them in our ATF required records. Picking up the firearm will follow the same process and require the same paperwork as if you were purchasing the firearm. This includes completing an ATF form 4473 and required background checks unless you have a NC Concealed Carry Permit. Storage is $20.00 per firearm, per 30 days. The fee will not be prorated, meaning 31 days of storage will be the same as 60 days of storage.
*If at time of pickup you a denied by a NICS background check, the firearms will not be transferred back to you until you clear the denial with NICS. No one can pick up the firearms in your place. The person who deposits the firearms will be the person who has to pick them up. The only 2 expectations would be a court order, or upon death of the depositor.
